I closed on my house today at 1:00 pm. Well, actually I got there half an hour early planning to eat lunch in my car but it was too hot, so I went in and they said that since I was there I might as well start signing stuff (and there was a lot for me to sign). I think we finished around 1:30, then I spent around an hour moving a small load of stuff and eating lunch before I went back to work (in the interest of not working 9 hours on a Friday or having to spend vacation).
No pictures yet, but I’ll probably get to it at some point. Currently it’s mostly empty: just two loads of stuff (neither of which really stuffed my car), and pictures of empty rooms just aren’t exciting. After tomorrow afternoon it’s expected to be a complete mess, so probably no pictures then. I’ll probably arrange the spaces I’ll use the most (bedroom and loft/computer area) first, but I still haven’t scheduled internet getting connected (I did call and ask, and I’ll have to be present for a full installation, can’t just have them hook it up outside and move my modem).
I took Talore to visit on my second trip: she didn’t take it very well at all. At first she didn’t mind the cage, but when I took it outside she started getting anxious. She then meowed constantly till we got there. I set her loose in a bedroom while I unloaded some of my car and as far as I could tell she just sat at the door and meowed. I put her on the windowsill in the room and she stayed there for a while, but when I walked back to the room a few minutes later I heard the thump of her jumping off and running to the door just before I opened it.
Letting her out of the bedroom was even worse than being in it. She started wandering, but when I followed her through a doorway she would get panicky and try to dash back past me when I was right in the doorway. I ended up just putting her back in the bedroom till I left. She’ll be going back tomorrow, but I’ll give her food, water, a litter box, and more time to get used to the room (she just had water today: I wasn’t planning to be there for very long).
The cat that I’d like to get (Talore needs a friend) is still at the adoption place. They offered to meet me at the Pet Smart tomorrow at 9:30 (probably when they feed the cats), but I have a meeting then. Hopefully he’ll still be there on Saturday, or maybe they’ll be available tomorrow afternoon/evening.
